
For teachers to work with children and youth who have disabilities in California, certification as an Education Specialist is necessary. The Education Specialist credential programs at Cal Poly Pomona provide courses designed to prepare teachers to instruct students with special needs at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels.

Autism is a complex developmental disability characterized by difficulties in communication and social interaction. It is considered a “spectrum disorder” because it affects individuals in varying ways.
