Overview

  This course provides an overview to the functional discipline known as contract cost and pricing, including government cost and price analysis, development and audit with an emphasis on Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) cost principles and cost-estimating methods. Topics include bid–no–bid decisions, truth in negotiation; cost proposal development and negotiation; cost accounting; direct labor costs and rates; application of indirect expense-overhead and general and administrative; direct materials and subcontract, and other costs; profit analysis and incentives; and contract risk analysis.

Benefits / Objectives

  The student will develop or enhance skills in pricing, cost analysis, and understanding the solicitation request. Students will be provided in-class exercises in preparing a cost proposal, developing pre-negotiation objectives so that a fair and reasonable cost or price position can be supported. The student will be provided with tools to estimate direct labor, material, and travel, resulting in the development of an adequate proposal with substantiated profit goals and objectives.
