  This certificate focuses on plant and soil management in the urban landscape. Students learn to identify and select water-conserving trees for the urban forest, as well as select shrubs, and groundcovers that minimize environmental impacts and create beautiful sustainable landscapes.

Awarded Certificate

  The Certificate in Dry Climate Horticulture is awarded to students who successfully complete the five required courses. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of all five courses.

Each course within the Certificate in Dry Climate Horticulture is a stand-alone course, which can be taken without prerequisites. However, we strongly advise that students begin with the five core courses offered within the first certificate: Sustainable Landscaping: Water Conservation. These five courses provide a solid foundation for the remaining curriculum.
