The construction industry can seem confusing and complicated to those without a good working knowledge of the myriad of aspects involved. Whether you are a seasoned professional looking to enhance your skills or a fresh face on the construction scene looking to learn the ropes, this certificate is designed to equip you with the tools necessary for success.

Overview

 

The Construction Management Certificate consists of six courses and provides students with a solid foundation relating to the entire construction process. Important aspects such as accounting procedures, legal issues, estimating and bidding and the negotiating process are discussed.

The six courses required to complete the Construction Management Certificate include:

  • Basic Accounting Aspects of Construction
  • Basic Estimating and Bidding
  • C.P.M. Scheduling
  • Labor and Employment Law and Managing Employee Relations
  • Legal Aspects of Construction
  • The Negotiation

Benefits / Objectives

 

Participants will develop the knowledge necessary to carry out the daily operational elements of construction project management, such as accounting procedures, legal issues, estimating and bidding and the negotiating process. Participants will learn the best practices in construction project management and business, specifically in areas of renovation and “ground up” construction.

Intended Audience

 

This certificate is designed for contractors, architects, engineers, electricians, plumbers and mechanical contractors. It would also be advantageous for those involved in the business side of construction such as construction company managers, investors and owners, commercial and residential construction professionals and real estate and financial professionals.



Awarded Certificate

  A certificate in Construction Management will be awarded to students who have successfully completed all six classes in the basic certificate curriculum.
